Gidday
Can anyone help me figure out what the diff is in the pics in this thread?
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic176826.php
I was told it was Isuzu but I have no idea.
I have done some reading and searches and I see the SWB Frontera and some Jackaroos had a Rear 4link and disk brakes, maybe thats it?
Any ideas? |

If it is disc it will be early jackaroo (88-91) or MU, and if it is drum it would be rodeo... either way all the mounts are custom as they are leaf from factory. |

Ah Ok
So its early Jackaroo 88-91 or All Mu's
So the Jackaroo that were 4 link were not disk rear?
Are they a very strong diff/axel/etc?
Any ideas of ratios?

Ok from 92 on all the Jackaroo's have a 3 link with panhard (4 link) and disc rear, these are Isuzu diffs.
The Frontera have 5 link rear and disc, and it is a Dana 44 (some are different types of Dana and need different lockers).
I'd say the Isuzu diff is stronger from what most say, it has an 8.75" crown wheel.
Ratios are usually 4.3, 4.56, and maybe 4.77. |

4.100(6VE1) - Auto 3.5L Petrol
4.300(4JX1, 6VE1) - 3.0L Diesel, Manual 3.5L Petrol
4.555(4JG2–TC, 6VD1) 3.1L Diesel, 3.2L Petrol
4.777(4JG2) - non turbo
92-97 both 3.2L petrol and 3.1L turbo diesel
the front diffs are all isuzu 10 bolt, and it's the same diff used in the 1st gen rear ends
the 4.1 to 4.3, and the 4.555 to 4.777 are interchangable with just the gears
to go from the 4.1 or 4.3 to the 4.555 or 4.777 you need to replace pretty much all the guts of the diff
